Wrestling Match Types
If you are a fan of wrestling, then you will no doubt be well aware that there are many different types of wrestling match types and different styles of wrestling that may be fought. For most wrestling fans, it is very important that they are fully aware of the various different wrestling match types as these can mean that you are in fact watching or taking part in a completely different sport than you had expected.
For example, in Olympic style wrestling or NCAA college wrestling, the rules and the moves and holds that are used by the wrestlers will be almost completely different than for WWE or WWF wrestling match types. In fact, if you were an Olympic wrestler and you suddenly found yourself in a WWE wrestling ring, there is no telling what might happen. While many people would debate about whether the Olympic rules wrestler or the WWE wrestler would actually win the fight, one thing is for certain, the two fighters would certainly have no idea of how to approach each other and what to expect.
The variances between different wrestling match type’s gets even bigger once you start looking at other forms of wrestling such as sumo wrestling. While all of these various sports are called wrestling, they are in fact completely different sports and there is very little in common between sumo wrestling and WWE or classic wrestling.
Even within a single type of wrestling, such as classic wrestling, it can make a huge difference what level of the sport you are playing in. Ncaa college wrestling will be very different from the more advanced levels of the sport and likewise, youth wrestling will not incorporated all of the rules that high school or college wrestling includes.
In WWE wrestling, there are many different wrestling match types and many of these are purely for enhancing the entertainment value of the fights. Events such as cage wrestling and tag team wrestling are completely unknown in more classic wrestling competitions. Tag team wrestling involves teams of two fighters fighting with only one wrestler in the ring at a time and the two wrestlers switching by tagging each other on the arm. Cage fights mean that the fighters are in a cage and cannot get out until one fighter wins and the other loses. These do not in fact make much of difference to the fight but add a lot to the entertainment value.
